Lalitpur, September 26 Mayanka Rana and Ira Rawat advanced to the women’s singles final of the first National Open Lawn Tennis here at the Tennis Complex courts today. Mayanka recorded a 6-0, 1-6, 6-0 win over her twin sister Mahika to make it to the championship match where she will meet Rawat, who defeated Bhagawati BK 6-2, 6-1 in another semi-final match. Rana sisters later teamed up to defeat the pair of Bibhuti Karki and Bijisha Shrestha 6-3, 6-3 to win the women’s doubles title. In men’s singles, Samrakshak Bhushan Bajracharya came from behind to edge past Shree Ram Magar 6-7, 6-2, 6-1, while Santosh Khatri saw off Ranjan Lama 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 to take berths in the last four. Likewise, Kamal Bhandari defeated Anil Shahi 6-3, 6-2 and Nabin Magar registered a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Pranab Khanal to make it to the semi-finals. In the men’s doubles semi-finals, Kamal Bhandari and Shree Ram Magar recorded a hard-fought 7-6, 6-4 victory over the duo of Santosh Khatri and Aatma Ram Karki, while the pair of Mahesh Shrestha and Samrakshak Bhushan Bajracharya defeated Anil Shahi and Shakti Sharma 6-3, 6-4.
