11 injured in Tanahun jeep accident

DAMAULI: At least 11 persons including a driver were injured after the jeep they were aboard skidded off and fell some 60 metres down the road at Moharia, Basantapur VDC-3 in Tanahun district on Sunday night. Police identified the injured passengers as Manoj Shrestha (19), Tej Bahadur Tamang (35), Kalpana Majakoti (26), Namina Ramtel (25), Shanti Devi Shrestha (50), Parvati Lamsal (41), all from Basantapur VDC-1 in the district among seven critically injured passengers. The jeep (Na 2 Cha 9488) was en route to a temple in local Thani from Dumre when it met with the accident, informed police. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Surendra Bahadur Gurung of the District Police Office, Tanahun, the critically injured have been undergoing treatment at Pokhara-based Manipal Teaching Hospital and another private hospital while rest of the passengers are receiving treatment at the Gorkha Polyclinic in Tanahun district. The accident survivors were rescued by a joint team of Dumre-based Purkot Area Police Office and  the DPO under the command of DSP Surendra Bahadur Gurung. The cause of the accident is yet to be identified, said police.
