Kathmandu, October 17 The Supreme Court has refused to issue interim order to suspend the appointment of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Managing Director Kulman Ghising. The bench of Justice duo Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha and Sapana Pradhan Malla on Sunday refused to issue the interim order, according to Nahakul Subedi, spokesperson for the Supreme Court. Four deputy managing directors of the NEA had filed a writ in the Supreme Court against the government citing the government has handpicked junior staff and named him managing director of the authority, breaching the norms and values. Deputy Managing Directors Sher Singh Bhat, Kanhaiya Kumar Manandhar, Surendra Rajbhandari and Sunil Kumar Dhungel had jointly filed the writ seeking interim order from the court to suspend the appointment of Ghising. After the refusal of the apex court to issue the interim order, the case will be settled only through the final verdict of the court. The Cabinet meeting on September 14 had appointed Ghising as NEA managing director for next four years after then managing director Mukesh Raj Kafle resigned. After the announcement of Ghising’s appointment, three Deputy Managing Directors Bhat, Manandhar and Rajbhandari have taken leave from office in a display of their dissatisfaction. However, Dhungel has been regular in his attendance and is currently serving in the capacity of chief of Tanahu Hydropower Project.   Â
