Few detained from Kathmandu for protest during Mukherjee visit

KATHMANDU: Police in Kathmandu Valley have detained at least a half dozen members of the public after they reportedly protested the state visit of Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, on Wednesday. A staffer at the Kamalpokhari-based Metropolitan Police Circle said 'some' of the detainees have been kept at his office. He, however, refused to divulge the exact number of the detainees. Anti-corruption activist Sharada Bhausal is also one among the detainees kept at the Circle, according to sources. Central spokesperson of Nepal Police, DIG Hemanta Malla Thakuri, however, said the Police Headquarters had not received any report about the detention yet. Police had blocked vehicles as well as pedestrians from various roads of Kathmandu citing security reasons during Mukherjee's visit today. READ ALSO:
