Gurung wins Laxmi Bank Open Golf title

Kathmandu, November 5 Hemant Gurung won the title of the Laxmi Bank Open Golf Tournament here at the Gokarna Golf Club today. Played under stableford 3/4 handicap format over 18 holes, the eight-handicap amateur golfer Gurung accumulated 39 points to win the trophy and gift voucher worth Rs 20,000. Wangchen Dhondup scored 37 points to finish second. The one-handicap golfer received the trophy along with gift voucher worth Rs 12,000. Tashi Tshiring won the gross section trophy on count back after he was tied on 35 points with Tashi Dong. Tshiring scored 17 on the back nine, while Dong earned 15. Dong claimed the most birdies award with five birdies. Pratima Sherpa claimed the women’s section title with the score of 33 points and received gift voucher worth Rs 10,000. Likewise, Tsultrim Lama won the senior section award with 34 points, while Honorary Consul of Mongolia TG Shrestha claimed the senior category title with 32 points. Lama and Shrestha received gift vouchers worth Rs 9,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively. Shreeyog Basnet claimed the junior section trophy with 37 points and earned Rs 9,000 worth gift voucher, whereas Maj Nischaya Jung Rayamajhi accumulated 35 points to win the guest section trophy and received gift voucher worth Rs 8,000. Phuntsok Lama won the longest drive award, while Atma Ram Simkhada bagged the closest-to-the-pin trophy. They received gift vouchers worth Rs 3,000 each. None of the golfers could win the Hyundai Eon car kept for Hole-in-One on any par-3 hole.
