MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke with US President-elect Donald Trump on Monday and agreed to work towards 'constructive cooperation', the Kremlin said.

The two men will maintain contact by phone and seek to meet each other in person, it said. Trump will take office on January 20, replacing Barack Obama whose relations with Putin have become tense over various issues including Syria and Ukraine in recent years.
