Kathmandu, November 18 The Parliament today continued its debate on the impeachment motion filed against chief of Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority. Almost a dozen lawmakers, including Radheshyam Adhikari, Prakash Jwala, Amrit Kumar Bohara, Shiv Kumar Mandal took part in the debate. Some lawmakers wondered why the House was taking time to conclude the debate on the impeachment motion. The next debate on the impeachment motion has been scheduled for Sunday. Assistant Spokesperson for the Parliament Secretariat Sudarshan Kuikel shared that Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar would embark on a trip to Russia on Sunday evening and would return home on November 26. He said the House would not meet during the Speaker’s absence. Earlier, some lawmakers took special time to highlight issues facing the public. CPN-Maoist lawmaker Giri Raj Mani Pokharel said the constitution should be amended as soon as possible to address the demands of the agitating forces. Pokharel also said the CPN-UML, which had been seeking the rationale for amending the constitution, must remember that the party had also talked of amending the constitution when it was in power a few months ago. He said the House should conclude the debate on the impeachment motion filed against CIAA Chief Karki soon so that the motion could be sent to Impeachment Recommendation Committee for investigation. NC lawmaker Dipak Khadka urged the government to provide immediate relief to the seven families whose houses were gutted in Sankhuwasabha district on October 31. He said the government must hold local polls by mid-May even under the existing structure of local bodies. UML lawmaker Ganga Lal Tuladhar said every year 400 people lost their lives in natural disasters and therefore the government should launch disaster reduction awareness campaigns. Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal lawmaker Subodh Kumar Pokharel said corruption was widespread at District Forest Office, Saptari. Nepal Workers and Peasants Party lawmaker Prem Suwal said his party had no objection to the bill relating to lawmakers pay and perks. Meanwhile, Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ajay Shankar Nayak tabled National Women Commission Bill, 2016 at the Parliament today. Similarly, Minister of Industry Nabindra Raj Joshi tabled Company (First Amendment) Bill, 2016 in the House.
