Kathmandu, November 21 Association of Conflict Affected Family of Security Forces today demanded the resignation of Home minister Bimalendra Nidhi for using force against them during their peaceful protest. Speaking at a programme organised here today in Kathmandu, they said security personnel had mistreated them and used force against them at a peaceful protest programme today. Earlier this morning, they had met with Prime Minister Puspa Kamal Dahal to put forth their demands. According to Bina Dahal, president of the association, the PM pledged to meet their demands, but the home minister of the same cabinet used force against them while they were staging a peaceful protest. She said, “The PM expressed seriousness with regard to our demands and said that he would discuss it in the cabinet and form a taskforce to address our issues,” adding, “Whom should we believe now? The PM pledges to meet our demands, but the home minister of the same cabinet uses force to suppress our protest and voice.” Ram Kumari Thapa, a victim, said, “The home minister has tried to violate our right to protest and seek information from the government by mistreating and manhandling us during our peaceful protest,’ adding “We strongly condemn it.” Mamata Nagal, another victim, said that the DSP from Kamalpokhari Police Office abused a single woman who was stating a sit-in protest and manhandled her. “Who gave the DSP the right to mistreat a single woman protesting for her right? If Home minister Nidhi has directed the police to do so, he should resign on moral ground,” She added.
