Kathmandu, November 27 The government today agreed in principle to formulate local, provincial and federal laws in line with the federal setup of the country. Government Spokesperson and Minister for Information and Communications Surendra Kumar Karki said the meeting of Council of Ministers today also promoted joint-secretary Krishna Prasad Devkota to the post of secretary and appointed Rabindra Pandit as the director of National Investigation Department. The meeting also decided to accept Rs. 5.88 billion from the World Bank for road sector development project and Rs 13 million from the Asian Development Bank for the implementation of school sector development programme. Likewise, the government decided to run Rupa lake preservation integrated development project and the Greater Dang valley and Madi-Lungri Corridor irrigation projects. Similarly, vulnerable landslide minimisation project will also be launched as per the government’s decision. Loan assistance of Rs 17 billion received from the Government of Japan for construction of the Nagdhunga tunnel way was also been approved, said Karki. Likewise, Education Secretary Shanta Bahadur Shrestha and Health Secretary Dr Senendra Raj Upreti have been given the responsibility to hold talks with Dr Govinda KC, who is on a hunger strike demanding reforms in the medical education sector. The Cabinet also approved the formation order relating to registration of land under the name of those living in unorganised settlements.
