Property worth Rs 6.5 lakh stolen from assorted Kathmandu locations

KATHMANDU: Police reported four theft cases from various locations of Kathmandu Valley on Friday. In total, valuables worth Rs 648,000 were stolen in the cases, informed police. Property worth Rs 150,000 was stolen from a hardware shop in Kuleshwor of KMC-14. Similarly, an unidentified gang broke into the rented room of an Indian national in Maitidevi, KMC-33 and decamped with a gold chain weighing one tola and Rs 50,000 in cash. Police said property was worth Rs 100,000 in total. In another similar incident in Naya Bazaar of KMC-16, the thieves barged into the rented room of a 27-year-old Tek Bahadur Shrestha, a permanent resident of Waling, Syanja and decamped with four tolas of gold, an LCD television set and Rs 60,000 in cash. The valuables were worth Rs 298,000 in total. Yet in another case, thieves entered into an unattended rented room of Pema Tamang, near the Grande International Hospital in Tokha Municipality-6, and took away property worth Rs 100,000 including Rs 83,000 in cash, half tola gold and other valuables. Meanwhile, police said they are searching the absconding thieves at various locations and are looking into the cases.
