NC, Maoists hold talks with Federal Alliance in consensus bid

KATHMANDU: Leaders of two major ruling coalition members - Nepali Congress and CPN Maoist Centre - on Tuesday held a meeting with the Federal Alliance in a bid to find a solution to the current political stalemate. Prime Minister and CPN Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa kamal Dahal had called the meeting to discuss various contemporary issues including removing obstructions at the Parliament, the Constitution amendment proposal and preparations for local polls, according to Dahal's secretariat. NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba, senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel, General Secretary Shashanka Koirala, leaders Bimalendra Nidhi, Krishna Prasad Sitaula and Prakash Man Singh were present in the meeting. Dahal was accompanied by leaders Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Ram Bahadur Thapa from his party. Likewise, the FA was represented by Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav and Tarai Madhes Democratic Party Chairman Mahantha Thakur.
