KATHMANDU: Opposition parties including the main opposition CPN-UML on Thursday continued the House obstruction demanding that the government withdraw the Constitution amendment bill. As soon as Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar announced commencement of the meeting at 1 pm today, lawmakers from the opposition parties including the UML stood up from their seats in protest of the bill the government had registered at the Parliament Secretariat on November 29. The opposition parties continued standing up from the seats for around five minutes despite the Speaker’s repeated request to let the House proceed with its business as it was the ultimate place to put forth people’s views on various issues. The Parliament Secretariat had included tabling of the Constitution amendment bill and some election-related bills, and continuation of the discussion on the impeachment motion filed against the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority Chief Lok Man Singh Karki in today’s agenda. Meanwhile, the Parliament meeting has been adjourned till 1 pm on Monday.
