One killed, 10 hurt in separate mishaps

Kathmandu, November 2:

One person died and another was injured in two separate road accidents in the Valley today.

Sixteen-year-old Hari Nepal, a resident of Dhading, who was injured when a tanker hit him near Thankot this afternoon, died while being brought to the Bir Hospital for treatment, police said. A search is on to arrest the tanker and driver, the police said.

In another accident, Yogendra Thapamagar, a seven-year-old boy, was injured when a motorcycle bearing registration number Ba 20 Pa 5754 hit him in Sinamangal, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-9. Yogendra, son of Amar Bahadur Thapamagar, was admitted to the Kathmandu Medical College immediately after the bike-hit.

Upon doctors’ reference, Thapamagar has been undergoing treatment at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj. He is reportedly in a critical condition. The motorcyclist is absconding, police said.

According to police, one person dies and three persons get injured everyday in road accidents in Kathmandu.

“We have deployed enough traffic police personnel to regulate traffic in the valley and we believe it will help control accidents during the festive season,” senior superintendent of police at the Valley Traffic Police Office, Krishna Ranamagar, said.

A report from Bhaktapur said nine persons were injured in a minibus accident at Kuliapokhari of Changu Narayan Village Development Committee-3, Bhaktapur this morning.
