Eight injured in Phidim taxi fall

PHIDIM: As many as eight persons were injured when the taxi they were travelling on fell off the road in Phidim Municipality-3 of Panchthar district on Saturday. The taxi (Mei 1 Ja 2546) heading towards Taplejung from Birtamod of Jhapa district had skidded off the road in Lalikharka in Phidim at around 10:30 am this morning. The injured have been identified as taxi driver Dorje Tamang (39) of Nangkholyang-3, Roshan Limbu (20) of Lelep-1 and Nain Kala Karki (50) of Liwang in Taplejung district and Rudra Lohar (22) of Yangnam-1 in Panchthar district. Similarly, Chuwan Khadka (20) of Dangihat-4, Jivan Khadka (23) and Post Bahadur Khadka (24) of Bahuni-4 in Morang district and Saroj Khanal (30) of Solma-1 in Terhathum district were also injured in the incident, informed the District Police Office. A team of 10 police personnel including Inspector Bigyan Basnet had rescued the injured and rushed them to the Phidim-based Panchthar Hospital. According to the Hospital, three including the driver were critical. The health facility has further referred them to other hospitals in Jhapa, Morang and Sunsari districts.
