China-Nepal think tanks to meet in Kathmandu Tuesday

KATHMANDU: A high-level 14-member Chinese think tank team arrived in Kathmandu on Monday to participate in the two-day China-Nepal Think Tank Conference. The conference is being organised by China's official news agency Xinhua's Kathmandu Bureau at Hotel Annapurna on January 17-18. Former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will be the chief guest of the function. During the two-day event, experts from China and Nepal would share their ideas on various issues including political parties' role in Sino-Nepal relationship and role of media in cementing friendly cooperation between Nepal and China, according to a release issued by Xinhua’s Kathmandu Bureau. Other issues to be figured during the symposium include the One Belt One Road Initiative introduced by the Chinese leadership, China-India-Nepal trilateral partnership as well as Economic and Cultural Corridor (CINECC), the release added. It further stated that main objective of the symposium would be to strengthen cooperation between the Chinese and Nepali think tank institutions so as to enhance bilateral relations. The delegates include Secretary-General of International Advisory Board of the Chahar Institute Huang Youyi, Executive Director of Institute of South Asian Studies of Sichuan University Prof Wang Yiwei and Director of Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies at Shandong University Yang Luhui among others.
