SUBISU CAN Info Tech-2017 kicks off at Bhrikutimandap

KATHMANDU: The SUBISU CAN Info Tech-2017, an exhibition of IT and related products, kicked off at the Bhrikutimandap exhibition hall in Kathmandu today. The 23rd edition of the exhibition is organised with the objective of providing information on the new technologies in the IT sector to the members of the general public. It is organised by the Federation of Computer Associations of Nepal. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Krishna Bahadur Mahara opened the exhibition amidst a function today. In his inaugural address, the Finance Minister stressed the maximum use of modern technology to make the state machinery tech-friendly. 'It is necessary to modernise the state machinery and adoption of technology is inevitable to reform the traditional working style and make the service delivery prompt and efficient,' he stated. The DPM also stated that the government was committed to promoting e-learning and the whole country would become 'e-Nepal' in the coming 10 years. President of CAN Federation Binod Dhakal insisted that the state should pay attention to the development of IT sector. Chief Secretary Somlal Subedi and IT experts also expressed their views and wished the exposition a success. The expo, which would conclude on January 31 has stalls of companies dealing on hardware sales and maintenance, power solutions and mobile accessories as well as Internet service providers, telecommunication firms, ICT colleges and training institutes, software solution providers and payment solution providers, among others, according to the organiser. The organiser is expecting a footfall of more than 400,000. Rs 100 has been fixed as an entrance fee for general visitors and Rs 50 for students.
