KATHMANDU: A meeting of the ruling parties and the United Democratic Madhesi Front has decided to intensify discussions over various issues including the local poll dates and reach conclusions within a couple of days. The decision was made in the meeting called by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal at his residence in Baluwatar today. The leaders had discussed issues including the Constitution amendment bill, Local Bodies Restructuring Committee report and the local elections, according to the PM's Secretariat. Meanwhile, PM Dahal told the meeting that he would direct the Election Commission to prepare for the local elections to be held within mid-April. The dates for the elections would be announced after the Parliament took a decision to move forward or hold on discussions on the Constitution amendment bill. Meanwhile, the UDMF leaders have warned that they would not let the elections be held or participate in it if the Constitution was not amended with proper consultations. READ ALSO
