1 killed, 1 injured in Rautahat bus-motorbike collision

RAUTAHAT: A person died and another was injured after a motorcycle they were riding on, collided with a passenger bus near Dhansar Bridge along the East-West Highway in Rautahat district on Tuesday night. The deceased has been identified as the motorcyclist Jitendra Mandal (29) of Hempur VDC-7 of Sarlahi district and the injured as pillion rider Sanjeev Thapa (22) of Limi Pokhari-1 of Ramechhap district. The incident occurred when the motorcycle (Ba 36 Pa 3625) heading towards Sarlahi collided head-on with the bus (Na 4 Kha 4210) heading for Banepa from Gaur,  killing Mandal on the spot and injuring Thapa, at around 10 pm yesterday, according to District Police Office. Injured Thapa is undergoing treatment at the Chandranigahapur Hospital in the district, informed the District Police Office. Meanwhile, police have impounded the passenger bus and detained its driver Jeet Bahadur Thapa for further investigation, said DSP Nabin Krishna Bhandari.
