Biratnagar, November 8:

The Indian ambassador to Nepal, Shiv Shanker Mukherjee, has said the Indian government is running projects worth Rs 1,400 crores for the development of Nepal.

He said the sum has been allocated to projects that have been launched in 62 districts of Nepal. Laying the foundation stone for the Manmohan Memorial Politechnical Technical Institute in Hatimuda VDC-7, Morang, today, he said India is willing to extend its cooperation to Nepal in the field of education, health and roads sectors.

As a friend, India has always supported Nepal in its development endeavours, he said. Terming the friendship between Nepal and India exemplary, he said: “We will never step back when it comes to forward moving through mutual coordination.” He also informed that the physical infrastructure at the institute will be built with Indian cooperation. He hoped that the institute will be instrumental in producing highly skilled manpower. The cost of construction has been estimated at Rs 320 million.

Chairman of the Institute and CPN (UML) leader Bharat Mohan Adhikari, thanked the ambassador for the assistance. The Dalits, marginalised and helpless will be enrolled at the institute, he said, adding scholarships will be provided to 200 students.
