KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Saturday said the government could not spare secessionist forces on any pretext. Speaking at the weekly television show 'Sidha Kura Pradhanmantrisanga' (Direct Talks with the PM), the PM said so in response to a question raised about the recent arrest of secession advocate CK Raut from Janakpur. 'The government is serious about CK Raut,' he said, 'Where in the world can any government give freedom to the one who claims to split the nation?' 'It is not possible. There is nothing great than the national dignity.' Dahal, meanwhile, blamed previous governments for the rise in separatist activities. 'Such trend is rising due to the mistakes of previous governments,' he said, 'This time, we have moved after thinking critically and consulting all sides concerned.' 'The government has expected cooperation from you all.' Meanwhile, the Prime Minister said the government was serious towards holding local, provincial and federal elections on time and was making preparations for the same. 'There is no need to cast doubts on the election,' he explained, 'By now, some election-related laws are already ready. If the government was not serious, it would be impossible to endorse them.' Accepting that the Constitution amendment was a complex process, the CPN Maoist Centre leader said the government was holding talks with the agitating Madhesi parties and would address their concerns before the elections.
