RAMECHHAP: A man of the Dalit community has been threatened and fined for entering a temple in Betali VDC of Ramechhap district. Local Krishna Bahadur BK on Saturday had entered the Shera Kali Mahankal Temple to perform a puja. Locals visit the Temple on Saturdays and Tuesdays with various wishes and believe that they come true with the sacrifices of animals. With the same faith, BK had reached the Temple to wish for smooth verbal abilities of his two-year-old daughter, who has not completely developed her speech. Upon reaching, he, however, was abused and mistreated by the priests of the shrine, Chhatra Bahadur Budhathoki and Bhim Bahadur Budhathoki, according to police. The priests had threatened BK and demanded Rs 5,000 from him for the 'punishable crime', it is reported. They even 'purified' the Temple after BK exited the revered place.
