560 cases of cybercrime registered in six months

KATHMANDU: As many as 560 cases of cybercrime have been registered in the first six months of the current fiscal year, said the Metropolitan Crime Division in Teku. According to DSP Pashupati Raya at the Division, most of such cases took place through the social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Viber. With the development of technology, Raya said, the cases of cybercrime were on the rise in the city. Of the total cybercrime-related complaints registered, police registered cases at the court in relation to 11 cases, shared DSP Raya. The Division had received a total of 830 complaints related to cybercrime in the last fiscal year, Raya added.
