Hetauda, February 8 Naya Shakti Nepal Coordinator Baburam Bhattarai today said that the government should amend the constitution to address the concerns of the agitating Madhes based parties before holding elections. Speaking at a press meet organised by Press Society Makawanpur in Hetauda, Bhattarai said his party was in favour of amending the constitution as holding polls without addressing the demands of the Madhes-based parties could invite confrontation. He said amendment to the constitution was a must to make it acceptable to all groups and parties. Bhattarai also accused major parties of trying to postpone elections to prolong their stay in power. “The major parties’ lust for power has kept the government from announcing the date for civic polls,” said Bhattarai. Bhattarai suggested that the three parties form an interim government to hold the polls.
