Hamal bags Open Fide Rating Blitz Chess title

KATHMANDU: Fide Master Manish Hamal won the Open Fide Rating Blitz Chess Tournament organised by Pioneer Public School, Kapan on Saturday. Hamal played the upper hand in 5 boards and drew 2, in the 7-round league. He received Rs 5,500 cash prize. The second finisher Suman lama of Makhan Chess Club received Rs 4,000 while Kshitiz Bhandari of Thapathali Chess park received Rs 3,000. Former Nepal Champion Nabin Tandukar became the fourth finisher followed by Badri Lal Nepali, Purna Raj Khadka, Punya Man Karmacharya, Sushil Chaudhary, Rajendra Bhandari and Sanat Kunwar in the one-day event. Hemraj Bhandari won the Unrated title. The winners were honoured with trophies, medals, letter of appreciations, and cash by Kathmandu District Sports Development Committee Chair Dhruba Raj Neupane, Nepal Chess Association Vice-President of  Gyanendra Khaiju and General-Secretary Hera Kaji Maharjan amid the programme presided over by the school principal Rajan Shrestha.
