Rautahat, February 13 Rautahat police have arrested two land mafia leaders, including a former VDC chairman, for trying to seize land of an entire village through fake documents. Former VDC chair of Fatuwa Harsha Surendra Prasad Yadav had procured a fake citizenship certificate in the name of Indian national Jayant Krishna Maitra from Parsa DAO, and sent a land attorney’s letter in the name of his brother Nawal Kishor Yadav from Kathmandu District Court to seize all the land of Bijayapur village at Laxminiya VDC. The villagers were living on the land from 1982, when flood in the Bakaiya River had displaced many families and then DAO and District Panchayat had resettled them on government land. Rautahat police seized the fake documents and launched an investigation after a news report regarding this issue was published on The Himalayan Times. Rautahat SP Yagya Binod Pokhrel said that police had arrested both Surendra and Nawal Kishor. SP Pokhrel said that preparations were on to file a forgery case against them. READ ALSO:
