Statute amendment proposal tabled at RPP general convention

KATHMANDU: A statute amendment proposal was tabled at the closed-door session of the unity general convention of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) underway in the Capital today. Party Vice-Chairman and Statute Amendment Committee Coordinator Buddhiman Tamang tabled the proposal at the convention taking place at Bhrikutimandap. Deliberations on the proposal are ongoing. A 161-member Central Committee including a Chairperson has been proposed in the amendment. Other 24 office bearers would be nominated by the Chair from among the central members. The future ideology and strategy of the party are also being discussed. The statue amendment proposal will be endorsed today following changes based on the recommendations received from the delegates, according to the party Spokesperson Rajaram Shrestha. The list of voters would be published after the amendment of the statute is finalised. The convention had begun in the Capital yesterday. It would conclude on Monday electing the new leadership. Kamal Thapa and Prakash Chandra Lohani are likely to contest for the chairmanship.
