Jhapa, February 23 Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba today said local level elections and constitution amendment would go on simultaneously for implementation of the new constitution. Inaugurating eastern regional festival of industries, trades, agriculture and tourism today in Bhadrapur of Jhapa, Deuba said election date was announced for effective implementation of the constitution. Deuba expressed his confidence that the opposition CPN-UML would back the government’s constitution amendment proposal. “Otherwise, the country will face prolonged political instability due to widening rift among the parties,” he said. He also reiterated       the obligation to hold the three-tier polls within a year, as per the mandate of the constitution. Deuba slammed the sudden rise in the interest rate of bank loans while highlighting the importance of organic agriculture in the country for self-reliance as well as to find a proper place for products in the world market. Speaking at the programme, Minister for General Administration Keshav Kumar Budhathoki urged regional and provincial prosperity. The festival was chaired by Naba Raj Paneru of Jhapa Chambers of Commerce and Industries. Chandi Raj Dhakal of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers and Commerce and Industries and Chief District Officer Uttar Kumar Khatri, among others, expressed their views.
