Orientation on road safety begins

Damauli, February 25 An orientation programme on road safety has started in Damauli, Tanahun from today. The awareness programme is organised by Gauri Parbati Himalayan JV, Division of Bridge under Physical Infrastructure and Ministry for Transport, District Traffic Police Office and Rotract Club, Tanahun. Inaugurating the programme, Traffic Police Inspector Bijaya Raj Pandit said the concerned department should play a key role in minimising fatal road accidents. Pandit added that awareness programmes regarding safety measures should be organised more often to curb road accidents. Also speaking at the programme, Engineer Amit Pokhrel of Gauri Parbati Himalayan JV and Chairman Raj Kumar Shrestha of Byas Land Transport Bus Entrepreneurs Committee, among others, opined that everyone should be serious about road safety to reduce such accidents. They added that poor road condition and negligence on the part of drivers as well as pedestrians are some of the major causes of road accidents.
