Kathmandu, March 5 Women Empowerment Committee under Nepal Taekwondo Association is organising the first Women’s International Taekwondo Tournament here at the National Sports Council covered hall in Tripureshwor on April 5-6. A total of 169 players from Nepal, India, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan will take part in the tournament, informed tournament coordinator Nanda Bashyal at a press meet today. Coordinator Bashyal also informed that 96 players from five regions and three departmental teams will play for Nepal in the tournament which will feature 40kg, 42kg and 44kg weight categories in junior section as well as 46kg, 49kg, 53kg, 57kg, 62kg and 67kg weight categories in senior section. The tournament will also feature U-15, U-19, above-19 and team events in poomsae category. However, the players who won gold medals in the seventh National Games will not be eligible to take part in the tournament. Bashyal also added that a total of 20 women judges will officiate in the tournament. The estimated budget for the tournament is Rs 4.5 million.
