Rs 7.44 bln released to implement new local level structure

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Finance on Wednesday allocated Rs 7.44 billion to implement the new local level structure which came into effect on last Friday. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance told media that each new local body would get Rs 10 million as a seed money for the initial set-up from the fund. There are 744 local levels in the new structure including four metropolitan cities, 13 sub-metropolitan cities, 246 municipalities and 481 rural municipalities. Meanwhile, the government sent officers of various levels to the local bodies today itself. DPM Mahara said the government would soon finalise the financial structure of local bodies today itself.
