Two drown in eastern Nepal rivers

BHOJPUR: A 12-year-old boy drowned in Arun River of Dhankuta district on Tuesday. According to police, Ishwar Basnet, a son of Gopal Bahadur Basnet of Mahalaxmi Municipality-5 in Dhankuta district, drowned. He had left home intending to swim together with his friends in the river but was found dead in the water at around 4:00 pm yesterday by a local resident, who informed police of the incident. In a separate incident, a youth died after he drowned in Baruwa Khola in Triyuga Municipality-11 of Udayapur district yesterday. The deceased has been identified as local Suman Bhattarai (24). Local residents had found Bhattarai unconscious in the water at around 3:00 pm before they rushed him to the District Hospital, Udayapur, where he breathed his last during the course of treatment, police said.
