Pokhara, April 12 Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba today said that nobody should raise secessionist opinions by raising the issues of the Madhes and hills. Addressing a mass gathering of his party in Pokhara today, NC President Deuba said that Nepal was a common land for all including Madhesis, Dalit, women, ethnic communities and even people living in remote Karnali. “The constitution has ensured equality among all the people of the country. Hence, Madhesi people should not be discriminated to maintain national harmony and unity,” he said. “The Nepali Congress thinks that people are the supreme leaders of the country. Hence, it firmly wishes to establish harmony and inseparable ties among all the people, irrespective of their natural differences,” said Deuba. He hailed the contribution of the people with ethnic nationality during unification. President Deuba said, “We abolished the tyrannical Rana regime, Panchayat regime and monarchy with the initiative of the Nepali Congress. Now, the country has witnessed republicanism. Hence, political stability should be maintained as per the new constitution,” Deuba said. He was of the opinion that elections of local bodies were very important to delegate more power to the people. He underscored the need of intra-party unity. “Nepali Congress must win majority of the constituencies across the country with strong unity,” said Deuba. NC senior leader Ramchandra Paudel said that his party wanted to lead the country towards prosperity through political stability and effective implementation of the new constitution. “All the forces, including the Madhesi front must accept the elections, otherwise, federal republicanism of the country will plunge into crisis,” said Paudel. He was of the opinion that all the forces required to contest the polls to relieve the country from the prolonged political crisis. He urged everyone to take initiative for the conservation of past achievements. DPM and Home Affairs Minister Bimalendra Nidhi, Secretary General Shashank Koirala, leaders Gopal Man Shrestha and Krishna Prasad Sitaula, among others, were present at the gathering.
