KATHMANDU: A light tremor has been recorded in Sindhupalchok on Monday on the eve of devastating Nepal earthquake's second anniversary.
The National Seismological Centre said the tremor at 5:04 pm was of local magnitude 4.2, listing it as an aftershock of the Nepal earthquake sequence.
The coordinates of the epicentre show that the tremor originated from near Baramchi, which lies north-east of the district headquarters Chautara.
More than 30,000 aftershocks followed the Nepal earthquake, which hit Barpak region of Gorkha district, at 11:56 am on April 25, 2015, in the first year, according to the NSC.
The frequency and magnitude of aftershocks, however, gradually faded away with time.
Last significant aftershocks were recorded in Ramechhap on February 27. They were of local magnitude of 4.6 and 4.7.
