RPP likely to pull out of govt over CJ impeachment motion

KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister Kamal Thapa-led Rastriya Prajatantra Party has called an emergency meeting of its central executive committee tomorrow after two ruling parties -- Nepali Congress and CPN Maoist Centre -- moved an impeachment motion against Chief Justice Sushila Karki. A highly placed source in the party, who did not want to be named, said the party is likely to pull out of the government tomorrow over the impeachment motion. Earlier, DPM Thapa had publicly objected to the impeachment motion. He wrote on Twitter that registering the impeachment motion against Chief Justice was objectionable and unfortunate, terming it a serious attack on the judicial independence.
