KATHMANDU: On Wednesday, the two recipients of the EU award to support the development of coffee sector in Nepal — ICCO Cooperation and Good Neighbours International Nepal —  jointly launched their respective projects ‘Hamro Coffee: Expanding Opportunities for Nepali Coffee Farmers and Traders’ and ‘Coffee Value Chain Development Project: Coffee Commercialisation, Income Diversification’. The total EU support to Hamro Coffee amounts to 500,000 euros with co-financing by ICCO Cooperation of 125,000 euros. Respectively, EU support to Coffee Value Chain Development Project amounts to 499,764 euros with co-financing by Good Neighbours International of 165,500 euros, as per a media release. The launching event showcased ongoing initiatives from the beneficiaries, private sector, government and the partner agencies working continuously for the recognition of Nepali specialty coffee.
