Kabeli B1 to generate power within six months

Phidim, May 6 As much as 75 per cent work of the under construction Kabeli B(I) Hydropower Project in the Kabeli River bordering Panchthar and Taplejung has been completed. The hydro project has set the target of starting power generation within six months. Engineer of the project Hastaman Rai said 90 per cent of the pipeline work, 75 per cent of barrage and eight per cent work on power house had been completed. The project aims to generate 25 megawatt power in summer and not less than 10 megawatt in dry season. Spread in 438 ropani area, the project had purchased land worth Rs 60 million and provided compensation of Rs 10 million to the project-affected locals. The project is estimated to cost four billion rupees. Various banks and financial institutions have contributed Rs 2.8 billion while 30 per cent of the total cost will be provided by promoters and other stakeholders. The project has also built a 25 kilometre-long road and helped for electrification of the village. The project has signed an agreement to buy an ambulance for the locals of Panchthar’s Nagai and build a drinking water project for the locals of Amarpur.
