Six-year jail for looters:
PUTALIBAZAAR: The Syangja district court has decided to fine Rs 82,687 and six years of imprisonment to each three convicts involved in looting. The court gave the verdict on Kamaruddin Miya, Mahamad Miya and Mahamad Ramjan Miya after they were found guilty for looting incidents in the pose of security officials. Another accused, Mahamad Rabif Miya, was at large and his case has been adjourned. — RSS
Elephant injures one:
BIRTAMOD: Harilal Bajgain, a resident of Duhagadhi VDC-4 of Jhapa has been trampled by a wild elephant on Friday night. Bajgain’s condition is critical and is undergoing treatment at Mechi Zonal Hospital in Bhadrapur, family sources said. He was attacked by the elephant when he was sleeping. — RSS
One electrocuted:
DHANKUTA: One person was electrocuted and five others were injured on Wednesday in Lakure of Dhankuta district while carrying out electrification work. Lal Bahadur Shrestha, 49, a resident of Dhankuta Municipality -2 died while undergoing treatment at Dhankuta Hospital. Ganga Shrestha of the NEA and four others were injured, the district police office said. — RSS
Dental camp for urchins:
POKHARA: Buddha Dental Care Centre, Pokhara, on Saturday held a free dental camp for the street children. Providing services on the occasion were specialists Dr Suman Shrestha, Dr Deu Poon and Dr Arjun Gurung. Some 200 children were benefited from the camp. — RSS
Public hearing held:
RAMECHHAP: A public hearing was held at Manthali, the district headquarters of Ramechhap, on Friday by the District Administration Office with the objective to making transparent, effective and quicker the services of different government and non-government offices. Chiefs of different offices responded the queries of people related to the services and activities of their respective offices on the occasion, according to CDO Chuda Mani Basyal. — RSS
Fencing around stadium:
POKHARA: Construction of the boundary fence around the Pokhara Stadium has started aiming at stopping the increasing encroachment on the stadium’s land. An 880-metre boundary wall will be erected round the stadium that spreads over 415 ropanis of land. — RSS
Panel for democracy day:
SINDHULI: A 155-member main committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of LDO Narendra Raj Baral to celebrate the Tribhuwan Jayanti and the 55th National Democracy Day for three days. Different sub-committees have been constituted for the same. — RSS
Water project completed:
UDAYPUR: The construction of a drinking water project completed at Risku VDC-6 of Udayapur district with the effort of local people. Under the project, four intake tanks and 11 taps have been constructed. Over 400 people from 75 households of the VDC are benefited from the project. The project needed Rs 0.35 million for completion, according to the construction committee. — RSS
Panel for smooth supply:
MYAGDI: A supply management committee has been formed in Myagdi with the view to making available services to the people in more convenient and effective manner. The committee aims at making the supply of consumer items of daily use easier and averting the scarcity of petroleum products in the district, it is said. The committee is headed by CDO Gyan Prasad Bhattarai. — RSS
