India win SA Yoga Sports C’ship

Lalitpur, May 8 India won the title of the first South Asian Yoga Sports Championship here at the International Sports Complex today. India accumulated 59 points to finish first, while Nepal were distant second with 26 points. Bangladesh finished third with five points. On Monday, India came first in girls’ 8-12 age group team event, while Nepal finished second. In individual section of the same age group, India’s Sdehna Purkait and Kadambhori claimed top two positions, while Nepal’s Manisha Gurung and Pushpa BK were joint third. In the boy’s section, Rohan Tasrik of Bangladesh came first whereas Nepal’s Buddha Tamang finished second. Nikesh Jyoti and Ashish Marshani of Nepal were joint third. Similarly, India’s Sankalpa Maiti and Siddhartha Dahariya won gold and silver, while India’s Abhi Gupta and Nepal’s Chhiring Lama jointly won bronze medal in boys’ 12-14 age category. In girl’s section, India’s Chandashree Sahu and Ankita Das bagged top two positions respectively, while Padmashree Mohanti and Rufida Tajmiya were joint third. In boys’ 14-18 age category, India’s Ayan Das won gold, while Nepal’s Roshan Khanal and Dhan Prasad claimed silver and bronze medals respectively, while India’s Anuprabha Das and Priya Jan won gold and silver respectively in girls’ section. In men’s above-18, Indian trio Indrajit Roy, Rabindra Mali and Ayush Barma claimed top three positions, while India’s Soniya Kamila and Nisha Bhaswani won gold and silver medals respectively in girls’ section.
