Kathmandu, May 8 Chief Justice Sushila Karki did not assign any case to herself today, the second day in a row. A source at the SC said CJ Karki would not adjudicate any case from now on, as she would retire as CJ next month. “She has told us that she will not adjudicate any case for a month before she retires,” the source added. She has been looking after administrative work as leader of the judiciary since she resumed office on Friday. She assigned cases to other justices today as well. In the past, some CJs took a month-long leave before retirement, while some did not. CJ Karki has not decided yet whether she will go on leave. CJ Karki, who faced automatic suspension after 249 lawmakers of the ruling Nepali Congress and the CPN-Maoist Centre filed an impeachment motion against her, was reinstated by the Supreme Court on Friday. Justice Cholendra Shamsher JB Rana had issued a stay order in response to a case filed against the impeachment motion against CJ Karki, telling the defendants not to proceed with the impeachment motion.
