Senior leaders call on President Bhandari

KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has expressed her happiness over the enthusiastic participation of political parties in the local polls slated for May 14.

During a meeting with senior leaders of major political parties at the President's Office in Sheetal Niwas today, President Bhandari further expressed her confidence on the successful completion of three-tier elections as per the constitutional provision by building a consensus among the parties.

According to the President's Chief Personal Secretary Bheshraj Adhikari, the President also apprised the leaders of her Sri Lanka visit commencing from Friday. Party leaders had extended best wishes for the success of President's visit.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN-UML parliamentary party deputy leader Subash Nembang were present on the occasion.Likewise, Chairman of Nepal Loktantrik Party and Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar, Rastriya Janata Party leader Mahanta Thakur, Chairman of Federal Socialist Forum Nepal Upendra Yadav and Rastriya Prajatantra Party senior leader and former Prime Minister Lokendra Bahadur Chand were also present in the meeting.
