KATHMANDU: Counting of votes is underway in 243 local level units among 281 in 34 districts where elections were held yesterday. Two local units, one each in Dolpa and Manang, did not have to go for voting it as their leadership was chosen unanimously. According to the Election Commission, counting of votes is underway in 110 local units in Province No. 3, 79 local units in Province No. 4 and 54 local units in Province No. 6. So far CPN-UML has won elections for post of mayor or chair in four local units, and is leading in 253, while the Nepali Congress has won in one unit and is leading in 51 units. Preparations are underway to begin vote counting in the remaining 38 local units. Meanwhile, ballots boxes are yet to reach the office of the chief returning officer in six units of Humla and one in Rukum due to geographical remoteness, the Rastriya Samachar Samiti reported.
