Chitwan, May 17 Gita Gurung of Nepali Congress was elected chairperson in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality, the only rural municipality in Chitwan. Gurung had defeated CPN-UML candidate Narayan Adhikari. Another NC candidate Kriti Kumar Shrestha was elected vice-chairperson. While UML ward candidates have been elected from ward numbers 1,2 and 6 of the rural municipality. NC ward candidates were elected from wards 4, 5 and 6. The CPN-MC ward chairperson candidate won from Ward No 3. In Bharatpur metropolis, which has attracted everyone’s attention now, CPN-UML mayoral candidate Devi Prasad Gyawali has taken a lead of 1,500 votes over his CPN-MC rival Renu Dahal, who is Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s daughter. As per the vote count by 7:00pm, Gyawali secured 4,445 votes against 2,733 for Dahal. The UML has also taken a lead in the post of deputy mayor in the metropolis.
