UML wins Rapti municipality seat

CHITWAN: CPN-UML candidates have won the majority of positions including the post of Mayor and deputy Mayor of Rapti Municipality in the district. UML's Prabha Baral was elected to the post of Mayor with 11,613 votes, defeating her closest rival Kiran Bhusan Oli of the Nepali Congress who garnered 7,292 votes. Likewise, Iman Singh Lama of the UML won the post of deputy Mayor with 11,882 votes. NC's Anita Mainali came second with 7,074 votes. The party candidates won 11 of the 13 wards in the municipality with two going to the NC, according to election officer Parmeswar Parajuli.
