KATHMANDU: Nepal's national women's football team suffered a humiliating 4-1 defeat to Malaysia's women team in a friendly match played at Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia on Wednesday. Mid-fielder Shereilynn Ellypius brace helped Malaysia to comprehensively beat the Nepali side in a one-sided affair. Ellypius scored early on either side of the halves. She scored on 3rd and 54th minute of the game. Malaysian midfielder Nurathirah Mamat also latched onto a through ball to notch home a goal from close range on 42 minutes. Malaysia led the first half 2-0. After the break Nepali side was caught napping as Ellypius scored her second goal and Malaysia's third. Nepali side pressed hard in the second half but Malaysian rearguard thwarted their attack with ease. Nepali side toiled hard to break the Malaysian backline and finally broke the deadlock on the 82minute. Skipper Sagana Rana scored a consolation goal on 82 minutes. Nepal's hope of clawing back into the game was dashed as Malaysian substitute Puteri Noralisa Wilkinson scored the fourth goal on 87th-minute after a lightning counter-attack. Nepal which had displayed a composed game in a 1-1 draw looked fatigued and were torn apart by a much fitter hosts side from the word go. The match was organised by the Football Association of Malaysia as part of the preparation for the 29th Southeast Asian Games slated for August 19-30 in Malaysia, according to All Nepal Football Association. Earlier, Nepal and Malaysia had played a 1-1 draw game, in which Dadree Rofinus’s 64th-minute goal was canceled out by Sabitra Bhandari in 67th minute. A 20-member Nepali team had left for Malaysia on May 19.
