Sajha Party urges govt to reconsider election date

Kathmandu, May 30 The Sajha Party has urged the government to reconsider its recent decision to hold the second phase of local level elections on June 23 — the final day of the sacred festival of Muslims. Issuing a press release today, Sajha Party Spokesperson Dr Surya Raj Acharya asked the government to immediately reschedule the elections keeping in view the Eid-Al-Fitr festival. There are 1.2 million Muslims in Nepal according to the recent census. A cabinet meeting yesterday rescheduled the date for second phase of local level elections in a bid to ensure particiation of the agitating Madhesi forces. Initially, the local level elections were sheheduled to be held in a single phase. Civic polls are yet to be held in Provinces 1, 2, 5 and 7. READ ALSO:
