Kathmandu, May 30 National Trading Ltd (NTL) has finally rolled out the Chinese government granted induction heaters for sale in the market from today. NTL has begun selling these induction heaters in the domestic market after the Ministry of Supplies (MoS) gave authentication to the retail price of these induction heaters as recommended by NTL board. The NTL board had finalised the price of 11,300 induction heaters, which the Chinese government had granted more than a year back, at Rs 4,000 per unit — half the cost price of these heaters at that time. As an immediate relief to fuel-strapped Nepal, the Chinese government in March last year had granted these induction heaters (which cost Rs 11,995 each) to Nepal under the Official Development Assistance (ODA) of China to Nepal. However, the government had found it hard to fix the price of these induction heaters due to the lower price of similar induction heaters in the market. “We are selling these induction heaters from NTL’s outlet based in Teku for Kathmandu Valley. As Rs 4,000 is a competitive price, we are optimistic that the entire stock of these induction heaters will be cleared soon,” said Laba Raj Joshi, general manager of NTL. According to him, the government was compelled to keep a low price for these induction heaters to make them price competitive. Meanwhile, NTL is also selling these heaters from its outlets in Pokhara and Chitwan.
