Classes resume at Khotang school after fire

Khotang, June 5 Classes have resumed at Jyoti Secondary School in Rupakot Majhuwagadi Municipality in Khotang, from today. The school had remained shut after a fire destroyed certain parts of the building last Monday. “We have temporarily resumed classes in seven rooms using tents and carpets in an under-construction building” said school management committee Chairperson Pratiman Rai. He informed the school was preparing to borrow 30 sets of desks and benches from adjoining Panchakanya Primary School in Hauchur until the school would be able to manage its new furniture for 261 students of the school. Nine rooms,including the administration, library and accounts section and some classrooms were destroyed in the fire. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. According to police, property worth more than Rs 6.5 million had been destroyed in the blaze.
