Parties yet to choose poll contestants in Siraha

Siraha, June 11 Political parties in Siraha are yet to finalise their candidates in the district’s seven municipalities and ten rural municipalities for the upcoming phase II polls. Nepali Congress has only fielded its mayoral candiate for Goalbazaar Municipality, saving all other local levels. “The formal announcement of NC candidates is yet to  be made in the district,” said NC district Secretary Upendra Yadav. The media would receive  candidates’ name list by tomorrow, according to Yadav. CPN-UML finalised its candidate for chief in all levels except Dhangadhimai Municipality and Shakhuwankarkatti Rural Municipality. Yet, the candidates for deputy mayor and vice-chairs and other posts are to be finalised, a UML source said. Likewise, CPN-Maoist Centre has to finalise many of its candidates. Election Coordination committee Coordinator Ram Kumar  Yadav of the party said that mayoral candidates Khadak Narayan  Chaudhary and Satyadev Yadav were finalised for Lahan and Bishnupura municipalities  respectively. “We have been working hard to nominate candidates as soon as possible,” he added. He further informed that the party would  finalise its candidates before June 13. Same is the case with Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal. The party has yet to finalise its candidates in the district. District chair Badal Prasad Yadav of the party said that the party has been facing problems in choosing its candidates due excess candidates aspiring to be nominated. “We will finalise the name list of the candidates very soon,” he informed. There are 331,596 voters in Siraha.
