KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba today said the knowledge of yoga and its exercise method must be taught to students at the school level.

This year’s International Yoga Day was observed organising a yoga camp with the slogan ‘Let’s Practice Yoga and remain Healthy’ in Pradarshani Marga, Kathmandu.

During the function, PM Deuba said that the practice of yoga must be taught at school level mindful of its mental and physical benefits, and the balance it creates between heart and brain.

'Yoga is such an ancient method which saves a man from bad habits and gives pleasure,' the PM said, adding' If the children can practice this, it will support their education.'

At the programme, PM Deuba released 'Dainandin Yogabhyas', a book written by Acharya Bal Krishna and 'Yoga Sandesh' published by the Indian Embassy.

On the occasion, Patanjali Yoga Committee Nepal's Chief Yoga Guru, Lavdev Mishra, taught the yoga to the participants.

Indian Ambassador to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri also attended the special event in the presence of the PM. The International Yoga day was first proposed by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the United Nations General Assembly in 2014. The United Nations later proclaimed June 21 as the International Day of Yoga. READ ALSO:
