Bhaktapur, June 21 Nagarik Community Hospital in Gatthaghar of Bhaktapur today remained tense following the death of a patient. Usha Basnet, 38, of Dolakha Bhimeshwor Municipality-5, who was living in Gatthaghar, died on Tuesday night in the course of treatment. The relatives of the deceased resorted to vandalism alleging that she died due to wrong medication. She had been admitted to the hospital after she suffered a minor chest pain. The doctors had given her medicine for gastritis. The deceased’s husband Ram Krishna Basnet said, “We were just walking around Gatthaghar in the evening. We visited the hospital for a check-up after Usha suffered from a minor chest pain. She died due to the negligence of doctors.” The hospital has, however, claimed that Usha died of cardiac arrest. The director of the hospital, Suresh Shrestha said, “Usha suffered a heart attack in the course of treatment. A seven-member medical team, including a cardiologist, were involved in her treatment for an hour.” He said they were ready to face action if it were proven that the patient died due to negligence of the hospital.
